Mowing

Mowing or Grounds Maintenance service includes mowing the lawn using professional-grade equipment, trimming or “weedeating,” edging of all sidewalks and curbs and cleanup or “blowing” when the job is done. Our standard grounds maintenance program includes 30 cuts (April 1-October 30) which can be billed in 10 installments or on a “pay as you go” basis.

Spring Cleanup

Everything you need to get your property ready for the growing season. Spring cleanup includes spade edging of all beds and tree rings, pruning and general cleanup of weeds, leaves and other debris that may have accumulated during the winter and early spring.

Fall Cleanup & Leaf Removal

These are typically some of the last things we do at your property at the end of the season. Fall cleanup includes final pruning and weeding, perennial cutback and anything else that needs to be done to get the landscape ready for winter. If the client has selected fall mulching, the beds are re-edged during fall cleanup.

Mulching

Property Services uses triple-shredded premium oak bark mulch. It is free of dirt, weed seeds and holds its color much longer than most mulch sold in retail outlets. Our mulch is simply the best mulch there is!

Landscape Maintenance

It’s important to stay on top of weeds and pruning throughout the growing season, so we recommend landscape maintenance be performed 12-15 times from April-October. This service includes weeding, pruning at the appropriate times, spraying Roundup under some circumstances and making sure all planting beds maintain a manicured appearance.

Tree & Shrub Fertilization and Insecticide

Our ornamental program employs organic fertilizers tailored to the needs of specific plants, and we recommend one application in spring and one in fall. Tree & shrub insecticide applications are performed to help prevent infestation or to kill insects that are already attacking your plant material.

Lawn Fertilization

Our six-round turf program begins in March and includes the following applications:

• Round 1 - fertilizer + pre-emergent herbicide to prevent crabgrass (split application)
• Round 2 - fertilizer + pre-emergent and broadleaf weed application
• Round 3 - fertilizer + grub control
• Round 4 - starter fertilizer
• Round 5 - lime
• Round 6 - winterizer fertilizer

Turf Renovation

Performed in September along with Round 4 fertilization

• Aeration - Core aeration relieves compaction in the lawn and makes it easier for water and nutrients to penetrate the ground and reach your lawn's roots. We recommend having your lawn aerated every fall and in spring as well if the lawn gets a lot of foot traffic.
• Overseeding - When done immediately after aeration, overseeding can help fill in bare spots in the lawn and keep it thick and healthy.
• De-thatching and thatch removal - The de-thatcher removes thatch that has accumulated in the lawn over the course of the mowing season and also further prepares the soil for overseeding. We recommend having the lawn de-thatched at least once every two years.
• Topdressing - Adding a topdressing comprised of 50% topsoil and 50% Compro to the lawn helps integrate organic material into the rocky clay soil that is typical in this area. It also improves the seed bed for overseeding.
